A message from Bruce A. Epstein '73, president, Odysseys Unlimited
With Egypt again in the news, I’m sure that Duke alumni travelers may have some concerns regarding travel there. I want to assure you that as a company we are, as always, following the situation in Egypt very closely to insure that the safety and security of our guests remain paramount. On November 16, I returned from a trip to Egypt and Jordan, and had a very reassuring visit in both countries. Additionally Odysseys Unlimited had a group visiting Egypt during the most recent protests and the first round of parliamentary elections; our guests were warmly welcomed and have had hugely positive reviews of the experience.
As a result of my visit, we have made the decision to change our Cairo hotel for all our 2012 Egypt groups. We’ll be moving from the Semiramis InterContinental Hotel (only two blocks from Tahrir Square) to the Fairmont Nile City Towers (approximately two miles from the square). We all feel very comfortable with this change, to take the Cairo portion well away from Tahrir Square which continues to be the focal point for any public protests. Our November group spent four nights at the Fairmont, with excellent reviews of the hotel and location.
Best Regards,
Bruce A. Epstein '73
