Don't see the group you're looking for?

Here's how you can start it yourself

New affinity groups can form around any self-identified characteristic listed in our alumni database. All you need are at least two volunteers willing to lead the group for two years and a set of goals.

Duke Alumni Association staff can help you create an initial e-mail message inviting all alumni interested in your group's theme. We can help you survey those people and get your group listed on our website. We'll also be happy to help e-mail your group membership regularly with news, help your group reunite on campus – and even send an occasional postal mailing at no cost to you.

Just email us at volunteer@daa.duke.edu to get started.

Student Affinity Services

Affinity groups, one of the many ways to connect with Duke, are loosely defined as campus groups with a common interest: the marching band, Hoof 'n' Horn, residents of Blackwell dorm, the swim team; or nationally recognized organizations, such as sororities or fraternities. Affinity groups provide a tangible way for us to identify and engage both students and alumni in the life of the university. The DAA is committed to providing programming and communications assistance for affinity groups.

The DAA offers the following services and programming:

Homecoming

Each year, all Duke alumni are invited to return for Homecoming weekend. Homecoming provides a great opportunity to invite your group's alumni to visit – the DAA will even advertise your affinity events to your group. Simply provide the event information to the DAA by late May, and your event will be included in the DAA Homecoming mailing to all alumni.

DukeConnect

DukeConnect is an online networking database that connects alumni and current students for networking, mentoring, and advising purposes. In addition to search features for careers, education, Duke degree, and city, it also soon will be searchable by affinity groups and keywords.

To learn more about the DAA Affinity services available to your affinity group, please contact us at volunteer@daa.duke.edu.
